Thanks to Eloy G. Boulton for adding this peak.
Pico Cogollal, west of Colonia Tovar, is the third mayor elevation of Aragua State. It is also one of the twelve peaks that reach more than 2300 m. of elevation (using the criteria of more than 100 m. of prominence to the nearest col) in the central coastal range of Venezuela.
It's upper part is covered by tropical cloud forest. The access can be done by the main ridge of the coastal range, starting at a 4x4 dirt road from Monte Oscuro to Costa Paraulata. Ther is no defined footpath to the summit, so a machete is necessary at places. To reach Monte Oscuro use the main paved road Colonia Tovar-La Victoria.
Be shure to mark your way back to avoid easy route loosing...and don't let the night to overcome you.
