Stanserhorn is a modest mountain in the canton of Nidwalden, Switzerland. A funicular train built in 1893 takes tourists at the town of Stans to an intermediate station at Kalti (or Chalti). There a transfer is made to a modern double decker aerial cable car with open top deck that continues the trip to the summit area were a revolving restaurant greets visitors. A very short trail winds the final few meters to the true summit. From the summit one has a beautiful 360 degree panorama including large lakes and distant views to Wetterhorner, Eiger, Pilatus, Titlis and many others. For those wishing to avoid the easy cable car route to the top, a trail leads to the summit from the village of Stans and is about a 4 hour hike.
