Monte Motto
With 2712 m, Monte Motto (Mot) is a relatively low peak in the Livigno area, however to climb it one must start at the Livigno lake which is at around 1808 m above the sea level. The prominence is around 900 m, so plan at least 2 and a half hours for the climb. The access route is from the east side of the mountain and it starts after the first tunnel-gallery on the road which goes from Livigno along the lake towards the Tunnel Munt La Schera and towards Switzerland, in the north direction. There is a parking before crossing the water stream coming from Viera valley. The route is very steep, through the woods first, and it passes a big screen close to the summit. Descending can be done the same way (the shortest way) or by continuing in the north-west direction and make a long tour through Val Saglient which eventually leads you directly to Livigno.
