Thanks to johnlahiton for adding this peak.

Interesting peak as you can see from all the "Cordon del Plata" references on Peakware pages for major Andes peaks like Aconcagua, Plata and Tupungato. The route from Polvaredas town is very pleasant as there is water almost all the way to the top. The bus from Mendoza city to Polvaredas is easy to take on Mendoza's main bus terminal and it gets you to a very convenient place to start climbing.

The peak was named Pablo Carlos Budassi in honour of the famous graphic artist and mountaineer that made the first recorded summit on December 1998. The climbing organization "Club Andinista Mendoza" decided to put Pablo's name to the peak as the graphic designer became globally notorious after assembling his famous artwork "Observable Universe Logarithmic Illustration" and because he was the first successful climber on record.

From the records of Club Andinista Mendoza, successful climbers include:

  • Pablo Carlos Budassi (Arg) (Dec 1998)
  • Maximiliano Costa (Arg) (Nov 2002)
  • Wolfram Schwiedder (Germany) (Dec 2003)
  • Fernando García (Arg) (Feb 2005)
  • Aleksandr Steppanov (Rumania) (Apr 2006)
  • Gabriel Cuadra (Arg) (May 2009)
  • Alexander Luppi (Italy) (Jan 2010)
  • Matias Marin (Arg) (Feb 2012)
