Chris Luke's new, unused high tech crampon broke, a rock hit me on my head and Roberto Rodriguez's fingers froze attempting to fix the broken crampon. (@17,000' on the lower portion of the glacier) Should have seen the rock that just missed ! Roberto and Chris voted to abort as I tried to remember my name. We slid Chris down the snow. 2 hours later Roberto's fingers were still cold as popcicles ( he didn't complain, of course ). Back at the Hut the hot tub and sauna were great and the cozy and spaciously private toilet with the heated seat as an added treat!) The mountain obviously was telling us she didn't want us up top. Sage and wizzened mountain freaks we are (Chris and I) we actually listened to her and will try again after Aconcagua.
