After a good acclimatisation program (Nevado de Colima, Nevado de Toluca and La Malinche) I was good prepared for Pico de Orizaba. At 8:30am I took a Taxi to TAPO in Mexico City and left with the nine-o'clock-bus to Puebla. Another bus brought me to Tlachichuca, we I looked for a transport to Piedra Grande where I reached at 10 past 4pm. First I ascended for more than an hour to explore the route. After that I had dinner and prepared my equipment. At 10pm, without any sleep I started to climb Pico de Orizaba. It was almost full moon so that a torch was not necessary. At 7am I reached the crater rim just at the moment when the sun rose. With this rush of adrenaline it took only 25 minutes to the top where I summited first today. I had a great view to Ixta and Popo. An American group that followed had a GPS advice there which displayed 5638 m. After one hour on top I descended and reached 3 hours later the hut. At 1pm I left Piedra Grande and went back to Mexico City by bus. After 1 hour ride with the Metro I reached my home at 8pm. This was my last volcano in Mexico but followed by some other beautiful volcanoes in Guatemala.
