Monster Tower is located in Canyonlands National Park in the "Island in the Sky" section of the park. This prominent 600 foot Wingate Sandstone spire is situated next to the famous Washer Woman Tower Arch (5819 ft). The two are separated by a 5420 ft saddle which creates about 395 feet of prominence for Monster. Monster Tower is an impressive formation as it towers 1400 feet above the White Rim Road at Buck Canyon. This remote area is accessible by four wheel drive vehicles only. The Wingate Sandstone that Monster is made of was deposited in the early Jurassic period. Wingate Sandstone is known for good quality rock climbing. There are several routes on Monster, two of which are rated at 5.11a. The North Ridge (best route) and the Kor Route.

Refer to " Rock Climbing Utah" by Stewart Green for detailed information on these climbing routes and approaches.
