Styggedalstindane consists of two peaks connected by a jagged ridge where the eastern one is the highest. Store Styggedalstind is usually climbed from the col between Gjertvasstind and Styggedalstind called Gjertvassskardet. Gjertvassskardet can most easily be reached by going over Gjertvasstind but also gained by going up the icefall of Gjertvassbreen or the snow gully on the other side if the conditions are good. Store Styggedalstind can be done together with Sentraltind if following the ridge and even continue to Store Skagastölstind (which makes for a very, very long day).
