Ramelau

Highest point in East Timor (Timor-Leste) and the highest point on the Island of Timor.  Also known locally as Tatamailau.  Drive from the capital, Dili, in about 6 hours by 4 wheel drive vehicle. Lodging available in Hato Builico.  Then a 30 minute drive to the trailhead.  A trail leads to the summit in about 2 hours. On the summit is a statue of Mary and on a clear day, views to the ocean both north and south. Go early to avoid afternoon thunderstorms.
