Haystack Mountain

The highest visible summit in this region of the Green Mountains, Haystack Mountain is a relatively easy hike with just a bit of rock scrambling near the summit. The round trip is 4.8 miles, (Just 2.4 to the summit), and the trail is marked with blue blazes. It becomes more challenging in the Winter months as the mountain sees a fair amount of sun, and can become very icy.

The peak sits just above Haystack Pond. The pond's depths have not been accurately measured, which may actually point to the mountain being an extinct volcano. There is also a great view of the nearby Harriman Resevoir.
