Quandary Peak Trip Report (#11739)

This was my 10th 14er and when I went to bed the night before, in my heart I wanted to climb this one for my Dad who told me last year on my cell phone while I was standing on Mt. Huron that he wished he could climb mountains like me. He passed away two months ago and it has not been easy nor was climbing Quandary. First time I have experienced altitude sickness and even though I almost turned back twice I never gave up. Hit the summit around 9:30 a.m.
"All I can think of is being five years old following behind you at the beach tracing your footprints in the sand trying to walk like a man...Well now the years have gone and I've grown from that seed you've sown but I didn't think there'd be so many steps I'd have to learn on my own. Well I was young and I didn't know what to do when I saw your best steps stolen away from you. Now I'll do what I do, I'll walk like a man and I'll keep on walkin" - springsteen In memory of Bobby Helton, Dec. 26, 1930 - May 6, 2003 (I miss you Dad!)
