The day started with dark clouds and rain and steadily got worse. The others that started out befpre us turned back, but my son and I drove on hoping the storm would subside. It didn't. When we reached the connecting saddle from the Blank Gulch trailhead (13,360') The wind was so strong that my face froze and I literally had to sit backwards and cup my hands over my mouth just to breathe! We estimated the gusts exceeded 75-80 mph. We were completely enveloped in clouds screaming past us and had no idea how far it was to the summit. We just kept putting one foot in front of the other until we were on the highest point all. A very memorable summit and trye test of our resolve!
