One of the most impressive peaks in Japan's Southern Alps, the pyramidal, granite mountain was long an object of religious worship. Kai-Komagatake (Pony Mountain of the Kai Province) is the unquestioned dean of many a "pony mountain" (komagatake) found in various parts of Japan.
