One of our favorite 14er climbs. It's steep, but includes wonderful views of the Apostles wilderness. Enjoy the basin at about 12,000 feet, because you will be huffing and puffing all the way from there to the top. We tried once a few years ago and were turned around at about 10 by a thunderstorm, but this year the weather was perfect all the way to the top. The jeep road to the traihead is quite rough -- believe it when it says "high clearance only." We made it in a Subaru, but I wouldn't really want to do that again. The two miles in along the road is mostly a stroll, through woods and a pleasant meadow and can be done in an hour or so, with a side trip to the Banker Mine.
