At the summit the peak is barren with a cairn holding the remains of an old mail box. This is not a particularly tall mountain, but a nice view of the Rio Grande River valley south of Albuquerque. The trail from Pine Shadow Springs campground is a 5.5 mile trudge. Nice flowers, many hummingbirds in September. Mountain lion scat and mule deer sightings in the area.
