I climbed with my friend David Parker and a guide. This was our first ascent of Dom. After the glacier and rock we went up the steep route for safety (ironically) and time. It was more technical, involving some ice climbing, but was worth it. The climb took approximately 4.5 hours. The descent went quickly until we got to the glacier. We tried to bypass the dangerous, icy crevasses that we had crossed that morning by going on the rock, but no good route was found so we crossed the glacier anyway. The climb from Randa to the hut was fine, taking about 2.75 hours, but the walk down was a little painful on the knees and feet. Before climbing, I had done Pollux, Breithorn, and Riffelhorn. Overall, a great alpine climb, considering it was one of my first.
