Beautiful day - blazing sunshine, virtually windless. From the car-park, up the eastern shoulder of Coire an t'Sneachda, kicking steps in the snow, then up the final scree-slope to the top.
As usual, I imagined I was Edmund Hilary, until I came across a lady of some 70 years, dressed in shorts and a thin jumper, putting on crampons to descend the snowfield. She wouldn't normally bother with the crampons, but her hip had been playing up a bit!
From the summit cairn, descending northward, the whole mountainside was a depressing building site for the unwanted Cairngorm Funicular.
