Gerlach

Featured photo of Gerlach

Gerlach is the highest peak in the Carpathian Mountains. It rises in the Slovik portion of Tatransky National Park, which straddles the border between Slovakia and Poland. The high peaks of the Tatra Mountains, from which the national park gets its name, are rugged rock peaks with a dramatic jagged crestline. They rise in a sudden cluster like an island of peaks in the surrounding valleys. Gerlach is only slightly higher than other Tatra peaks, but the entire region is impressive in its steepness and its character.
