Lobuche East Trip Report (#13697)

Our group of 3 was the first to summit Lobuche East after a heavy episode of snow about a week previously. A trail had been partially broken through thick snow up to high camp at about 5500 m (which is a most spectacular perch) by a previous group, but then the way up the southeast ridge to the summit had to be broken through thick, yielding snow. An enjoyable ridge climb with some (mostly snow-filled) crevasses and some steepish steps and small ice cliffs (preferable to traverse around these). Snow conditions somewhat unstable and probably of some danger (the leader set off a small avalanche near the top. Tiring but wonderful.
