Beautiful climb up the Emmons. Camped at Emmons Flats and summitted via the "east traverse" around the bergschrund to meet up with the cattle train from DC. Departed high camp for the summit at 12:30 AM, summitted, descended to break camp and back in the parking lot at White River Campground by 6:00 PM. Long day but great memories and pictures.
Climbed with the able and leather lunged Brian Anderson of Puyallup.
We dedicated the climb to Dietrich Gerdes who passed away at Paradise on 6/26/02 while preparing to train for a summit attempt. Mr. Gerdes' desire to climb is an inspiration to continue the sport and a reminder of why we love to climb.
