Mount Elgon Trip Report (#1980)

This might be the best mountain in Africa. No crowds here as on Kilamanjaro. We took five days and visited the hot spring in the crater in addition to summiting. We were there in an El Nino year and there was actually snow above 4,000 meters (very unusual). It was unusually cold and rainy (Kenya was plagued by flooding), but it was a great climb. Make sure to visit Sipi Falls (five waterfalls) after the climb. These are some of teh worlds most beautiful.
