Adjacent to the south of Lantawan Peak (the northern-most peak of Mount Silay), Dalayapan Peak stretches from its highest point in the east to descend in a tree-pronged ridge to the west. Itis flanked on both sides b y valleys that sustain two major tributaries of northwest-bound Sicaba River.
Although there are decaying logging roads on its northern and southern sides, Dalayapan Peak is covered by forest except on its lower western slopes, the only part with human settlements.
Mountaineering in Dalayapan is sparse and, as of the year 2011, it has experienced only two successful ascents, the first in 2002 and the last in 2005. The earliest known approach by mountaineers of Dalayapan was in 1993 through western slopes. The most was done from the far southwest in Barrio Gawahon, Victorias City, Negros Occidental.
Thanks to Dennis S. Ella for this description.
